Its wide tread wraps onto the sidewall, and a puncture-resistant ply runs down the middle, so flats are less likely. TUFO was founded in the Czech Republic in 1991 by former racer Miloslav Klabal, who built his first tubular in a garden shed. In 1993 TUFO patented the tubular clincher, and today it still makes its tires in its own factories in Otrokovice and Zlín.
