The Commuter That Takes the Long Way Home

The Dew DL is the Dew we hand to riders who put real miles on a commuter. The butted 6061 aluminum frame borrows its stable, upright handling from Kona's mountain bikes, and big 29 x 2.0" WTB GROOV-E tires smooth out potholes, curb cuts and the gravel shortcut by the river. A 70mm-rise bar and short stem keep you sitting tall with a clear view of traffic.

The DL upgrade is the drivetrain and brakes. Shimano CUES runs a single 40t ring with an 11-48t LinkGlide cassette, so you get one shifter, a gear for every hill, and parts built to last through wet winters. Shimano hydraulic disc brakes with 160mm rotors stop consistently in the rain with light lever effort. Kona also adds a bell and kickstand, so it is ready to ride out the door.

Kona has been building bikes since 1988, when Dan Gerhard and Jake Heilbron started the company in Vancouver, B.C. The brand grew up on the North Shore, helped launch the freeride movement, and has long been headquartered in Ferndale, Washington. In 2024 the founders bought Kona back, so it is once again a fiercely independent, founder-owned Pacific Northwest bike company building bikes around what they call The Long Sweet Ride.
